Overview

Red River College (RRC) Polytechnic is Manitoba’s largest institute of applied learning and research, offers more than 200 full- and part-time programs, including degree, diploma, post-diploma, and certificate options, with most programs taking two years or less to complete. Through applied learning experiences, students gain practical skills across various fields, from skilled trades to industry settings. RRC Polytech prioritizes employer connections by providing access to industry-standard equipment and technology, as well as experiential learning opportunities such as placements and apprenticeships.

With a focus on flexibility, RRC Polytech offers a wide range of part-time programs, courses, and micro-credentials. Thus, allowing students to tailor their education to their needs. The success of RRC Polytech graduates in finding employment is attributed to the program's alignment with industry needs and extensive work-integrated learning opportunities, often leading to job offers before graduation.

At RRC Polytechnic, you don’t just sit in classrooms all day long. On November 30, RRC Polytech marked the accreditation of eight of its programs by Technology Accreditation Canada (TAC).

The accreditation is the result of a comprehensive audit that includes a tour of each program's labs and student support services, and interviews with its students, faculty, alumni and graduates' employers.

Welcome to Manitoba

RRC Polytech is located in the heart of Canada. Manitoba has a diverse, multi-ethnic population of over 1.3 million, representing more than 100 languages and nationalities. The province offers a range of landscapes, from the rugged beauty of the boreal forests to vast golden prairies to the many lakes and parks found throughout the province.

Manitoba has facilitated immigration system that provides international students with a structured alternative to becoming a permanent resident in Canada.

The City of Winnipeg

Winnipeg is located in the centre of North America, and is rich with business, social and cultural opportunities. It’s often considered a big city with a small-town attitude.

  • One year of study at RRC Polytech costs less than a year of study in Vancouver or Montreal.
  • Winnipeg enjoys the most amount of sunshine and hours of clear skies per year of any Canadian city, as well as four distinct seasons.
  • In winter, the ice trail situated on the frozen Red and Assiniboine Rivers spans more than 10 kilometres for skating and walking.
  • Winnipeg hosts year-round festivals celebrating music, theatre, comedy and culture. Festival du Voyageur, Western Canada’s biggest winter celebration, also takes place in Winnipeg.
  • Fans cheer for the Winnipeg Jets hockey team, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers football team, the Valour FC soccer team and the Winnipeg Goldeyes baseball team.
  • The Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre and Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra are internationally recognized.

Live on Campus - Red River College Polytechnic Residence

Red River College Polytechnic’s student Residence is located inside the Paterson GlobalFoods Institute and is two blocks away from the Roblin Centre in Winnipeg’s historic Exchange District. The Notre Dame Campus is easily accessible by bus from the Residence.

Other Renting Alternatives

There are many options for living off-campus. Kijiji is the most popular website for rentals in Winnipeg. Other websites for rentals include Craigslist, RentBoard or Roomgo.


Manitoba has one of the lowest costs of living in North America, but also a high standard of living. In Winnipeg, some typical rent costs are:

Homestays

Homestays allow you to live in a Canadian home, and to learn English in a natural setting. They also help you to adjust more quickly and provide you with a better understanding of Canadian culture. This option can be very rewarding if you are flexible and willing to adjust to a new environment.

RRC Polytech Campuses

Five out of our eight campuses have programs available to international students – three in Winnipeg and two regional campuses in Manitoba.

Winnipeg Campuses

Red River College Polytechnic has three major campuses in Winnipeg – Notre Dame Campus, Stevenson (Airport) Campus and Exchange District Campus. The Exchange District Campus is comprised of many buildings and centres, including the Roblin Centre, Language Training Centre, and the Paterson GlobalFoods Institute.

Notre Dame Campus

The Notre Dame Campus (NDC) is RRC Polytech’s largest campus and only a few short minutes from the Winnipeg International Airport. This location features efficient public transportation routes with transit buses that easily connect to the rest of the city. Large parking lots within the campus also allow students to drive and park safely.


Most Community Services, Engineering, Health Sciences, Skilled Trades and Transportation programs take place here. In this location, you’ll find the following facilities:

Roblin Centre – Exchange District Campus

Located in Winnipeg’s city centre, our Exchange District Campus (EDC) includes many different buildings spread throughout Winnipeg’s historic Exchange District and Downtown. This campus is located within walking distance of many commercial and residential buildings.


The EDC does not have a parking lot operated by RRC Polytech, but because of its excellent location within blocks from two of the most important streets in Winnipeg (Main Street and Portage Avenue), public transportation is extremely efficient.

The Roblin Centre is where most of the Business, Information Technology and Creative Arts programs take place. In this location, you’ll find the following facilities:

Paterson GlobalFoods Institute – Exchange District Campus

Also located in the Exchange District Campus, the Paterson GlobalFoods Institute (PGI) is where the Culinary and Hospitality programs take place. This is also where the campus residence is located. In this location, you’ll find the following facilities:

Language Training Centre

The Language Training Centre is located at the Exchange District Campus and just steps away from the Roblin Centre and Paterson GlobalFoods Institute. This is where RRC Polytech’s Intensive English for International Students and other language programs take place. In this location, you’ll find the following facilities:

Stevenson Campus (Airport)

The Stevenson Campus (Airport) is located on the west side of the Winnipeg airport. This campus was built to train Manitoba’s workforce to participate in all aspects of the aviation and aerospace industry – the province is home to the third largest aerospace sector in Canada.

Regional Campuses

RRC Polytech has many campuses throughout the province of Manitoba. Among our regional campuses, the Portage Campus and Steinbach Campus have programs for international students.

Portage Campus

The Portage Campus is located in the city of Portage la Prairie, in the Central Plains region of Manitoba. Located in a historic building, the campus offers ample classroom space, accessibility, a gymnasium and a student lounge and computer study area.

Steinbach Campus

Our Steinbach Campus is located in the Eastman Education Centre on Loewen Boulevard, a state-of-the-art facility in the residential part of the city of Steinbach. The smaller class sizes, student-friendly atmosphere and convenient location are just a few of the many advantages of this campus.
